International Students at YILDIZ TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY


Welcome to YILDIZ TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY. We hope that you have a nice time both at our University and in Istanbul.

We encourage all incoming international students to arrive in Istanbul one week prior to the semester in order to participate in our orientation programme.

Here are some key dates:

  • Fall Semester : 27 September 2010 – 08 January 2011

Exam term: 10-22 January 2011

  • Spring Semester : 14 February 2011 - 28 May 2011

Exam term: 30 May 2011 – 11 June 2011

Please be sure that your Acceptance Letter sent you as soon as possible by your contact person [Department Coordinator] in YTU.


EILC COURSES

EILC courses are given by the universities in the provinces of Aydın, Antalya, Kayseri, Ankara, İstanbul, Nevşehir, Sakarya, Kocaeli and Erzincan. Use the following link to see the seasons, periods and course levels: EILC Courses given in Turkiye.

    Documents Required For Matriculation (Registration)

    • The original student identity document (which has been approved by your own university)
    • Copy of passport
    • Health insurance


    Residence Permit

    After arrival in Istanbul, you must apply (in a month) to Istanbul Foreigners Police Department.

     

    Documents Needed for Residence Permit For Purpose of Study

  • Petition (in Turkish) (The front and back faces will be "colour" printed to a single page).
  • 2 passport photographs. (5 if this is your first application)
  • Original passport & photocopies of pages in passport showing your photograph and last entry stamp.
  • 1 coloured Declaration for Residence Permit form (Ikamet Beyanname Form) (completed using typewriter or word-processor).
  • Proof of Student Status for relevant academic year, issued by the school.
  • Foreign Exchange Receipt to the value of USD 1200, Bank Statement, or Proof of Scholarship.
  • People intending to attend TÖMER may obtain a permit for 1 year, depending on the duration of their visa.
  • In the case of new applications, people applying for a Residence Permit for Purpose of Study must come to Turkey on a Study Visa obtained from a Turkish consulate abroad.

    Dormitory Application

    If you request a dormitory place of our University please fill and send the Dormitory Application Form.

    Deadlines for Dormitory Applications:

      • 20 August 2010 (for fall semester).
      • 17 December 2010 (for spring semester).


    After getting to your dormitory or your flat in Istanbul, you must immediately check in at EU Office.
